Price Increase for new sim only contracts

Hi

I'm thinking about joining Sky Mobile on a sim only deal in the next few days. But have noticed that Sky been notifying customers of a February price hike. My question is that if I were to join would my contract be subject to this hike, i.e. if the sim only deal was £10 per month and the price hike is £1.50 would i essentially pay one month at £10 and then the further 11 months at £11.50?

I've tried to webchat to get an answer, but the help bot is rubbish and won't let me chat to a real person and points me here.

Hope someone can help.

@tl2000 From what I've read both here and elsewhere, it looks like all SIMs will be subject to the increase, so if you join today(or before the rise comes into effect on the 14th February), then you're likely to see the increase applied soon after, there may be a 60 day protection offered as with some Sky services(Im not 100% certain it applies to SIMs though).

Not for mobile.

However, once notified of the increase you can leave without termination charges.

Personally, I'd wait until post increase deals are launched.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Re: Price Increase for new sim only contracts

Thanks for the replys. So, is the increase applied on the 14th Feb? If so if i wait until after that date,  any new tariffs selected will already be inclusive of the uplift?

Just hope that the diamond VIP offer doesn't disappear by then.

Hi @tl2000  we have had it confirmed by sky that any sim purchased now wouldn't be subject to the upcoming rise so you can order now if you want and it will stay at that price.

Re: Price Increase for new sim only contracts

@63johnw Thats good news. Thanks for this.

I tried over lunch to open a webchat to discuss directly, and for once it was working. The rep confirmed that it 'may be subejct' to in contract price rise and that sky would inform of any price rises before they occur. However they wouldn't commit to if the februrary one would be applied if a sim only deal was taken today and advised taking a deal after the 14th Feb to ensure that this current rise wouldn't apply. It seems that the web chat reps do not have the information that you've been provided.
