Poor Poor unacceptable mobile signal in most places

since moving myself and whole family from EE to Sky mobile We are all (6 of us)! having an absolute nightmare with the signal on this network, starting to regret this move!

Does anyone else in Liverpool or in fact any city have perfect Signal, none of us had a single issue with EE now this is becoming so frustrating, Liverpool city centre I cant even make a call ( in a city centre!)

Certain parts of the area in liverpool I live in do work but then others total blackouts, I dont feel that me and my family are safe on this network, what if my kids have an issue whilst out and cannot call us or any in fact?

Is anyone else experiencing this ? It cant be just us 6?

Thanks.

Yes, Sky mobile signal is abysmal in large swathes ov the country including urban centres because of the shared O2 it piggybacks on with much lower priority than the native subscribers so we are frequently blocked from any coverage (particularly 3g or 4g). Good luck in getting any improvement from customer services

@Robertowillow

I live in a city and have a very good signal as does my wife and son. We actually moved from T Mobile (using EE) because of the poor coverage with them.

Any relevant information showing on this link?

Hi @Robertowillow  just so you are aware your sims are 12 months minimum term after which time you can cancel them and leave. You can continue paying for phones and use other networks sims in them if you want. They aren't network locked.

Re: Poor Poor unacceptable mobile signal in most places

Thanks for your reply, this is good to know as soon as i can am off to a better provider, I have reported a really bad black spot in my area where every day the signal just goes totally, so i know its not just a one off, its terrible service, I reported this and got report back saying signal working fine and no problems at all in area, they are not going to help me so I will just spend my money elsehwere for my 6 contract phones as soon as I possibly can...

Sky Mobile aren't lower priority, it is just O2 doesn't have enough frequency bandwidth to support all customers, so it slows everyone down. The likes of GiffGaff are lower priority.

O2 have acquired capacity from VodafoneThree recently so it may improve.

People assume all networks are equal, they aren't, cell towers are in different places and some networks have more bandwidth capacity than others (EE).

Re: Poor Poor unacceptable mobile signal in most places

Just shows how different people can have different experiences with their mobile phone networks. I've found Sky to have the better coverage out of the networks I've used, getting signal in places my family on other networks haven't been able to.

Re: Poor Poor unacceptable mobile signal in most places

Really does depend where you live and work and not only that depends on the types of buildings you live and work in, high frequencies don't go through walls well, low frequencies do. High frequencies travel further low frequencies don't. Rural areas tend to have low frequencies so they can cover a larger area, urban areas have high frequencies as although they don't travel as far they can carry more traffic.

It's absolutely shocking - I'm currently in Cornwall - in quite a large town - and other people are having no issue with their coverage. It's the same in big cities (I visit Manchester a lot). It's almost unusable!

I'm finding it's getting worse, not better.

Worth sharing make model of phones that have particularly bad reception: my family uses 4 Google Pixel phones which display 4G as LTE....they are very prone to being locked out with no usable data at all in busy towns and often no voice coverage either. Have been complaining to Sky repeatedly for over a year....interestingly, I never have a problem when roaming abroad on other networks

You don't say what model of Pixel, but it could be that the phones don't do one of the higher frequencies that O2 will tend to use in busy towns. In rural areas it will be lower frequencies that they use as they carry further.
