PAC code / SIM query

Hi

I've just been sent a new SIM from sky as I have just opted for a new sim only contract

I've been with sky mobile for a number of years and want to keep my same number

With the SIM card it mentions texting PAC to 65075

I did this but got a message back saying to send PAC followed by by DOB which I did, but for days I've been getting a reply from this saying service not available

As I am staying with sky mobile but just want to keep my number is there another option I can do please?

Hi @SueWSM  you can't port from sky to sky, you could try calling and asking if they could put the new plan on your old sim but don't be surprised if they say no. You could just use the old sim in the new phone using the old plan. The only other option is to port your old number to another network on PAYG then port back to the new sim.

Re: PAC code / SIM query

Apologies, I'm not sure what you mean about port

I'm keeping the same phone, I've literally just changed my SIM plan and received a new SIM in the post

To port mean transfering your number from one sim to another sim.

You can't use a Pac code to move a number from one Sky sim to another Sky sim so you have a few options.

You could call Sky to ask them to cancel this new sim you activated and then use the one you have in your new phone.

Re: PAC code / SIM query

Thank you for explaining about port

You mentioned having a few options but only mentioned contacting Sky, was there something else I could do?

As above I don't have a new phone.

My new sim only contract is a lower amount than my old sim only contract hence applying for the new sim

If I understand the above correctly I don't need a PAC code, assume I need to activate the new sim?

Any help where I can do this?

How do I ensure I take my current number to the new sim only contract?

To transfer your number between two Sky sims @SueWSM you would need to activate the new Sky sim, then get a Pac on the old one to transfer it to a PAYG network provider, then get another pac from the PAYG network to transfer it back to the new Sky sim that you have activated.

As mentioned @SueWSM  your options are

 1. use your old sim/plan and do t activate new sim

2. Call sky and ask if they can put the new plan on your old sim (probably won't)

3. Transfer your number to a different network on PAYG then bring it back to the new sim.

Re: PAC code / SIM query

Thank you all for the replies

I'll give sky a call otherwise I won't bother, isn't it odd how difficult it is to sort, and certainly not explained anywhere by sky
