Number not updating

Hi. 
Recently got a new phone. 
want to keep old number. Had pac code. New iPhone is activated but my phone number hasn't updated to the one I want to keep. It's coming up with the new number. However on text&imessage the number I want to keep is there but for phoning and FaceTime it's the new number that I don't want. I've tried editing the number in on settings > phone but it doesn't save. I've turned the phone on and off numerous times but it's not worked.

Was your 'old' number on a different network than Sky?

Yes it was.

I've had the pac code and texts from old provider to say it's been transferred but it's not showing that it has on new iphone
