Number not registered on SMS services

Essentially I have transferred my number from eir to Sky, the process was surprisingly difficult in setting up the new SIM in my phone. I had to manually set the APN settings to get anything to work but now they are.

 

The biggest headache however is that I can't send any texts, if I use RCS chats they send from the Sims old number not my own transferred one, and if I use just SMS they won't send at all.

 

Mobile data and calls work fine and with my correct number too, which makes this all the more confusing. SKY have said that they can't see any issues on the backend but surely something has gone wrong. The SIM acts the same in my father's phone, he is also with sky and has no issues with his own.

 

First time I've ever encountered issues with sky but I have to say it's really annoying, I've now been unable to text for over a week. No resolution. Have I missed something? The APN settings are all perfect and so is the SMSC number.

Hey, yeah I eventually got it sorted by myself.

 

Make sure your APN is mobile.sky and it should autofill the rest.

 

After that go into the SIM toolkit (sky ie menu) app on your phone. This is the bit that I believe was causing the most problems.  Once you are in here cycle through the settings and make sure they're set to sky and automatic, if this doesn't work switch it to partner and snd then back to these and it should reset  For whatever reason this is what eventually fixed this for me even though I had been in there multiple times. 

 

After that you just have to reset your number on the message app, I can't remember exactly but there is a guide online to help register a number to your Google account for RCS. 

 

 

I hope this helps, sorry if it lacks detail... It's been a few weeks since I fixed this. It worked for multiple phones in my house so it should sort your issue.

Having the same issue RCS is set to temp number, going to try your solution Danny816 as Sky Support on WhatsApp didn't help at all.

 

Roaming also wasn't working in NI but not sure if that was related to this.
