Not receiving any OTP, codes or verification messages.

I switched from EE to Sky Mobile, and have since not recieved any text messages containing OTP / verification codes. I've called sky to no avail, and they have suggested a number of trouble shooting steps yet this has not resolved.

 

I've reset the network settings, I've taken the sim card out, tried it in another device, checked the correct mobile number, etc.

 

These messages are crucial to be able to access the functions I need e.g bank account, social accounts, etc.

 

Sky said it could be an issue due to transferring the number to sky but should resolve and it hasn't.

 

I guess it will have to be a case of switching to a different carrier, does anyone know how I can fix this?

This will need reporting to Sky on 150 so they can take the details from you to add through to another team to investigate. When calling saying nothing when asked any questions by the bot.

Hello, 

 

Thank you for the reply. I have done this and called sky on 150 around 6 times, they have now referred it to another department however the issue is still not resolved. Not sure what else to do.

I'm having the exact same problem switched from EE to Sky and now not receiving any sms text so no verification codes etc! Called Sky and being referred to another dept and have to wait for a call back within 24 hours! 
Has this problem been sorted yet?

Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved I am having a nightmare since switching from EE. I can't log into my banking accounts because I can't receiving verification codes and I can't use iMessage or FaceTime

I switched from ee to sky last week & my number seemed to switch over yesterday. However, I can't get verification codes. When I called sky they have referred me to another dept who will call em back. However she was blaming the problem on the temporary number being in settings still but I've fixed that by resetting network and I still can't recieve verification messages. Has anyone figured out how to fix this yet?

Same issue here and have bills i can't pay. Locked out of most things, and sky can't help.

 

It's a known issue according to other threads.

 

Has anyone had any resolution?

No, I've spent hours over the past 2 days on the phone to sky, just keep getting passed around different people who have no answers & try the same troubleshooting. I was also told to update to latest software & now my iMessages aren't working either

Hi yes I did, after lots of phone calls to get to right person - escalate ,escalate eventually you'll get in and you will get a original DO NOT LOOSE otp. Then a verification code to your mobile and your away.

 

You must persue Sky! 
Also when I did get "account reset" and I got into stage one it still then didn't send me anything -i had to change my (Sky Mobile Sim contact number) to my wife's (Mobile 3 Number) resend and it went threw immediately! You could change your contact number try that (alternative network)

I got both that way (The OG and the Verification Code shortly after). I immediately switched back to Vodafone (after 12 months) and have reviewed everything needed to date, it's clearly a Sky issue - Google - Sky Verification Code Issues My GP (NHS Appointments ETC).

I am having the exact same problem.. I don't know what to do?!!! I can't get any verification codes for banks, GP! I'm going mad trying to contact them but with nothing back.. I'm worried

I finally got mine resolved after sky sent me a replacement phone and a replacement sim card which still didn't receive OTP. After being on the phone to them for the 4th time they finally looked at my account and OTP were being blocked. Seemed a pretty straightforward solution in the end. Recommend ringing them and just demand they check their end. Because they had me resetting all my setting multiple times and my settings were absolutely fine

When you switch to Sky they automatically activate parental controls. You can change this yourself in the My Sky app if you have a credit card to verify your age (they take £1 and reimburse it) or you can ring Sky and ask them to do it (it takes 24hrs).

Update: after two requests Sky still couldn't turn off my parental controls and they also couldn't figure out why I wasn't receiving any OTP's. Absolutely useless so I've gone back to EE and this has solved it.
