Re: No 5g Ireland

I switched to sky mobile and have never gotten 5g  only LTE and  wifi calling isnt available

.

Am on a Google pixel phone .

I was on gomo and Vodafone on the same phone previously and had 5g and wife calling .

I wouldn't have switched to sky if I had known . On forums in the UK it seems quite common if your phone wasn't purchased from sky.

Re: No 5g Ireland

Data speeds have been quite good on LTE and haven't had any issues with calls .

5G and wifi calling would be a nice option. To have but not vital

If I wasn't on a 12 month contract and was on a 30 day one I would switch provider

Re: No 5g Ireland

You won't be able to(get 5G) unless Google have whitelisted Sky as a network provider - google are the only android company to do this I think.

so you should expect that Sky are working on this with them and as for when it will be completed (DM them on Twitter)

Re: No 5g Ireland

Well, there's nothing about issues with 5G on Goggle phones - Sky is advertising simply 5G on 5G compatible device.

For me that's simply false advert and break of the contract rules.

In this case I would like to cancel my contract with Sky and my first month payment back.

Re: No 5g Ireland

I rang sky support .they trouble shooted my pixel mobile  They .tried the usual  basic steps and then said they have escalated the issue to the next level of support and I should hear from them. in 24 to 48 hrs.

The pixel issue is on alot of forums and been around a long time so am not expecting much off them

Re: No 5g Ireland

I managed to speak to someone from the tech team and agreed that there was no time frame on when 5G will work on Pixel phones and he spoke to someone at the loyalty team and because the porting of my number hadn't worked either they were happy to cancel my SIM without any issues.

I'll look back at joining when they get issues ironed out and updated.

Re: No 5g Ireland

I rang sky support a few times . All they what to do is the basic troubleshooting steps of resetting network settings . I told them  it's that pixel phones aren't fully supported on their network and need Google to whitelist sky . Nobody has contacted me from the next level of support .nor will they now.

Doesn't sound like theirs anytime frame of if alll google pixel phones will ever be fully provisioned on the sky network .

Options seem to be leave sky and go to another network provider which fully support pixels .

Stay with sky and put up with no 5g and wifi calling

Or change from Google pixel to Samsung or Apple if staying with sky
