New phone and contract and e-sim never worked

I got my new phone last Friday and chose e-sim thinking it would be easier! How wrong I was! My phone set up fine and works on WiFi, but I can't call people or receive calls or text. I basically have no network because the sim never activated. I got the email about activating e-sim  and it kept trying to text me a security code, but I can't receive texts! Absolutely ridiculous? And when I try and click activate sim or whatever, the e-sim is greyed out and says 'not available' and only lets me activate a physical sim. 

even more annoying is the fact I've spoken to sky every day since and no one can fix it and you've all told me different things!! The first man said I need a physical SIM card to use e-sim (absolutely wrong and all the other people I spoke to said this, but he still sent me one Saturday apparently)

 

that SIM card hasn't arrived. I can't order another one and I can call sky as I can't call!!!!

 

 On my account it's all set up and sky people have said it looks all activated, one person trying to blame network in my area but it absolutely isn't that. My phone says no sim. 

please help it's getting ridiculous now I'm really fustrated

Thank you all new to me, I've used online chat and spoken to them on the phone! They told me e-sim team would call me but I can't get calls! So said they'd email and never did. Also never received the physical sim they sent. So awful.
