Hi, I had to setup a G42 5G for my Son who already had a contract Sim with old phone, I read the instructions and fitted Nano sim in the end slot of the pullout holder as shown, pushed it in and started the phone, the Sim was undetected 'No network'. After requesting APN settings nothing happened. I then pulled out the card holder and looked at it and experimented I ended up fitting the Nano sim across the 1st large gap for the Micro sd, which I think is shown in the bottom of the 3 diagrams on the instructions, albeit it does show 2 sims installed not just a single one.like we had, there was a gap but it seemed to sit there fine, I pushed the holder back in and the phone fired into life and the SKY network was operating , I was then able to run the APN settings from the messages SKY had sent me which I had requested on the app, in summary you just need to adjust the sim position and orientation. Sorted.

Go to sky.com/networksettings (My Account > Mobile > Settings) and sign in with your Sky iD.
Select the mobile number or SIM name you're having trouble with.
Scroll to 'Resend network settings' and select Request settings.
Save the settings when your receive them and reboot your phone.

@caesarome , hi, thanks for your reply, yes I did try that, repeatedly and received responses saying new settings had been sent. However they never arrived ( until I put my SIM card back into my old phone and then they did come through). I then tried through device support to find the settings and install them manually. However the G42 is not listed on the Nokia device page so I couldn't find the appropriate settings. Also when I looked at the settings on the G42 I couldn't see any heading for APNs and neither could the sky customer care person which I think led him to conclude it was an incompatible device

No I have had an ongoing SIM only plan with sky and simply transferred my existing SIM onto the new phone

Yes I wondered if there was an issue with the SIM but the Sky advisor pointed out that it does work perfectly ok in my old phone. He seemed to think that because he could not find a way to " create new APN settings" that the phone itself was incompatible. Yo be honest I've no idea what that means and that's why I wondered if anyone else had come across this issue. I did contact Nokia's helpline hoping they could offer some advice but they just pointed me towards returning the new phone to them and requesting a refund. I guess that's probably what I'll do ---- however thank you for your suggestions.

@Trev1053 I have the same issue. Got my New G42 today 09.10.2023. Having the same problem ....BUT my Sky Sim works in Sim slot 2 and not in Sim slot 1. Nokia said to contact sky and request a new sim, but i don't understand how this would help. I agree the sky sim is somewhat not compatable with this phone sadly, but it is strange that it works in slot 2. Just means i use the sim in slot 2 and cannot use a Memory Card aswell. Strange situation!!!! Like the phone though and don't want to return it really 😞
Don't know if that would help you ?

Hi @PurplePetal , that might help me. I don't want to return my G42 either especially after having bought a new charger ,case etc for it. I was going to ring sky and ask to be released from my contract on the basis that it's service is not compatible with my phone but maybe I'll try the SIM in the second slot first, I'm not so worried about a memory card. Thanks

@PurplePetal @Trev1053 Thanks for the Slot 2 tip, I'll give that a go.
Having the same problem myself.
Did either of you try ordering a replacement sim and did it work in Slot 1?

Hi Kenny
No I didn't think a replacement SIM was needed. Decided it was easiest to return the phone and buy a different phone. Got another Nokia, g22 and this is working fine with sky.

Just posting an update in case anyone stumbles across this thread with the same issue.
Ordered a replacement sim from sky, activated it, and tried that in Slot 1
As with my previous sim the phone could not see the new card in Slot 1 😞
Put new card in Slot 2 and works fine.
So yeah, looks like an issue with Sky Sim cards in Slot 1, and a replacement won't make a difference.

I had the same problem so after a lot of frustration I tried putting the SIM card into the other slot and it actually worked.
