NEW IPHONE USING OLD SIM

Just received my new Iphone15 and it is my intention to insert sim from old phone into new one.  Do I have to backup the old phone to Icloud then sign out of Apple ID prior to inserting sim into new phone?  Will this transfer all my Apps?  Is there anything else that is required?

The new iPhone can trigger a transfer wizard from an existing phone.  (You don't have to perform a backup first)

Personally, I do this first and then move the SIM once completed.  (The SIM only provides cellular connectivity)

@PandJ2020 thank you I have now done that.  Just making sure I can access all the Apps before I log out of my old phone.

Yup - the transfer wizard works well though...
