Credit checks are made for certain purchases - even if you're 'paying your bills'.

Even if the offer is part of VIP a credit check may still be required.  The check looks at more than your score.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@Mm39 While you do have the right to apply for offers that are offered to you, you may be refused if you fail the relevant credit check(as appears to have happened), you don't have an automatic right to credit and something on your credit file has been seen as reason to refuse a credit account(your score actually means little).

@Mm39 I would be very surprised if what the agent has told you is true, Credit checks have to be run for certain services and purchases and I don't see Sky giving you special treatment by exempting you from those checks.

Your payment history is only a small part of the credit check(as is your score), there is no need to keep mentioning it as that won't change the fact you have been declined credit, the main criteria that most lenders/brokers look at is the number of open credit accounts on your file and the amount that is owed on them, once you hit a set limit(this can vary by lender/broker) you will be declined regardless of whether you think you can afford it.

Finally just because you are offered a deal doesn't mean you are entitled to it, all that it means is you are offered the opportunity to apply for it if you meet the terms of that offer then it's applied if not you are declined, nobody is entitled to credit, you are only entitled to apply for it.
