Mobile data abroad - via piggybank

Hi

I downloaded lots of data to my phone when I went to the Caribbean, but I found when there wasn't WiFi available, my data didn't get used & I just didn't have any internet. Can anyone let me know what I need to do to use my existing data when abroad please? Cheers Dawn 🙏

@deelou

You just need to make sure both mobile data and roaming is turned on. You should note that using mobile data is going to work out as really expensive as there is a charge for it:

£2,160 per GB (yes this is correct)

£2.16 per minute Calls to local or UK mobile and landline numbers

£1.80 per minute to receive calls

£0.50 per text message to UK numbers and mobiles

£0.58 per picture message(MMS)

If you're in a 'Rest of World' location (sounds like you are) then you cannot use your piggybank.

All data and calls are paid for as (expensive) extras.

Hi @deelou  you need to enable roaming and mobile data then when you connect to the local network you will use your data. It will be very expensive in the Caribbean. You can't just use piggybank data at no charge.

You've also probably already burnt your spendcap.  You can spend £45 in a matter of minutes.  (The phone may even do this in the background)

Re: Mobile data abroad - via piggybank

Hello just wondering, can I use my Sky piggybank abroad in Cyprus and how much would it cost to use it.

Hi @Luke107  it will cost £2 for 24 hours of your home allowance and piggybank. You can't just access your piggybank.
