Mobile charges abroad
Hi, I'm in Spain. I have a uk plan that gives me 50 gb data . I understand the daily roaming charges of £2 per day. I also understand that with this I can use my phone for data / texts and calls in the same way as if in the uk. However I have two questions . Firstly skyvstatws it operates a fair usage limit at 25 gb . So does that mean I'm charged for every gb over 25 gb even though I have a 50 gb plan ? Secondly , is data rolled over from the piggy bank also counted as above the fair usage limit if greater than 25 gb ? I've tried ringing Sky but I get a distorted message that's incomprehensible . Can anyone help and clarify please

Hi @stufasd49305wj the first part of your question is yes anything over 25 gig is then charged by the gig. Not totally sure on the second part but I would think piggybank data also counts towards the 25 gig.

Re: Mobile charges abroad
Thank you for that. Would be nice to know for sure if the fair usage limit applies even if have a uk plan for above that limit and also if data from the piggy bank is also subject to that limit. I'm unable to get a definitive answer. May have to try to ring Sky again

Re: Mobile charges abroad
It doesn't necessarily answer that part of your question with any certainty but this is from Skys own website...
When you roam using our Roaming Passport Plus, we consider that up to 25GB per billing period is a reasonable amount of data to use. If you exceed this amount, we'll assume that you're no longer using data in the way expected of a reasonable customer for periodic travel.
We may suspend your service, restrict your usage, or charge you for the data that you use in excess of these amounts (currently £2.50 per GB), and we'll let you know by SMS or email before we do so.

Re: Mobile charges abroad
AIUI the piggybank doesn't circumvent any restrictions. So the 25GB limit applies regardless of where the data came from your account.
This will make sense as Sky is charged for the actual data supplied by the 3rd party network.
