Mobile Data not working abroad?

I'm on holiday in Italy...I got a text from sky explaining the mobile data passport etc etc. I've been able to make calls, but my mobile data isn't working. I turn it on on my phone, but nothing happens. I've tried all the advice it goes through after asking the help bot.

Does trying everything include search for other networks to see if your device will connect to a different network and will then work ?

Hi! If you mean do I connect to an Internet connection - yes. But mobile data isn't working

What I mean is, to get your device to search for all available networks in your area and then go through them all one by one to see if will connect to a different one which will then allow mobile data to work.

Hmm don't think I have, but also not entirely sure what you mean. May you explain a bit more or tell me what I can look exactly to see? 🙂
