Re: Missing piggybank data

Has this issue been resolved? I had over half of my Piggybank removed on 5th June. How do I get it back?

@PB222

You can't as the data remains in your piggybank for 12 months.

Re: Missing piggybank data

But surely you would lose it month by month ( ie 12 months after you banked that data). Losing over 60GB overnight doesn't make sense, does it?

Does the piggybank log give any clues?

From what I can work out it seems Sky have just implemented a cull of data over 12 months in one go.

I think that's how it will work going forward @PB222  so data saved this month will expire 12 months from now but data that was, for example, 14,15 and 16 months old has been removed now. That would be my guess.

Re: Missing piggybank data

This seems a bit dubious.  So I've lost about 500gb and there was no point when I signed up that they said they would cut my data.

Bit of a scam.

Re: Missing piggybank data

This happened to me on 5th June. I have had 335.56 rewards removed. I have send a complaint to Sky requesting an explanation. I am a good & loyal Sky customer and this has never happened before. I will walk at the end of the mobile contract next year if this is not resolved (just another 9 months!!)

@cathyb

Customers were made aware of this change in the April 2024 price change letters/emails but it's only recently come into effect so it's easy to have forgotten this in the intervening months. To be honest I can't see your complaint going anywhere.

Re: Missing piggybank data

I have not received any information from Sky. You say 2024?? I have been without being able to make or receive calls and no internet once away from home due to a block placed on my account after activating an eSIM. I had to get a replacement SIM card and this happened before it was activated- so I do think I have a case.

From Sky's help page:

There's no limit to how much data you can save, but it automatically expires after 12 months if you don't use it. So, each month, any data that’s 12 months old will drop off your Sky Piggybank balance. We don't send any reminders for this.

For example:

  • Data added in May 2024 will expire in June 2025.

Re: Missing piggybank data

7 years, since around the beginning of Sky mobile.  So much for loyalty.

I spoke to someone and they said they sent a "email" explaining the cull, but funnily enough the only one I got was a marketing email.

I received the email.   Of course, you can move to another provider where most simply discard the unused data at the end of the month.

12 months is still generous and, frankly, if you're building up too much data then you're probably on the wrong dataplan.

Re: Missing piggybank data

Good for you, but we're on different accounts so if you got it it doesn't mean I got it.  Who would have thought a email system could send emails to one person and not another.

Frankly, you don't know what data plan I was on or why I accumulated the amount of data I did so stop being such a apologist.  Then again, you're probably a person who would argue that a person who doesn't like mid contract price rises as a great thing and it's the customer's fault for not leaving.

This is not about whether I move to another provider, which I obviously can thank you captain obvious, but about the unfairness of Sky changing the contractual terms midway through a contract that we muturally entered into and removing data that was already paid for during my tenure.
