Mis-sold someone else's number

I have been in contact with my bank today, to change my phone number to my new sky mobile number, I have been informed that my number is registered under someone else. How do I make a complaint about this?

@fouchi44

There are very few, if any, brand new numbers so your 'new' number was regenerated from the giant pot of numbers.

All mobile numbers on all networks are recycled so the chances are someone did have the number prior to you. If you want another number due to his you will need to call Sky on the free 150 number.

Any idea how to ask them to unregister my number?

The number is owned by you so there is nothing Sky can do. If your bank will not update the details to show that this number is yours then as I suggested earlier you will have to contact Sky about getting a replacement number. There is no guarantee that this will not happen again though seeing as all theee numbers are recycled.

Answered by @caesarome already. If you contact Sky and arrange for them to change your number it will almost certainly another recycled one. When I got my mobile number in 2018 I sent a text to my brother-in-law telling him the new number. It was already in his list of contacts connected to a contact he had at the local council so these numbers do get recycled pretty quickly.
