Mis-selling - iPhone 16 Plus on Backorder - In Stock when ordering

Ordered an iPhone 16 Plus last week. Although I really wanted black, the delivery time was 4+ weeks, so I went with blue instead, as that was showing as in stock, and next day delivery.

A week later, and no phone. I decide to log in to my account and the phone is on back order! Contacting support and they are no help at all.

 

So, instead I suggest I cancel this order and instead order an iPhone 17 in mist blue. That's showing currently as in stock, delivery tomorrow.

 

But no! The agent tells me that is also on back order. So, why does the website say available? Is it just to get customers like me to order, and hope they hold on, in the hopes they can keep their money?

 

My son in law experienced EXACTLY the same thing, with his 16 pro last month. ordered a specific model due to the wait time, only to be told it's on backorder.

 

What has made it worse, is that I was transferring my number across to Sky also, so now I have no idea if it's going to be transferred, and I will lose access to my current phone. Any ideas?

 

Poor move from sky, and one which I feel is mis-selling.
