I'm trying to link a kids smart watch to my mobile - the only thing I need it to do is contact my mobile as an SOS alert. Can I just pop a replacement sim card in registered to my mobile, or do I need to start a new plan? The watch doesn't have to make any other calls or texts, only to my mobile.

You can't use a replacement sim as you can't have two with the same number so you would need a sim with it's own plan:
