Hi, today I received the typical price rise email. I know price rises will happen during contract, but I think what happened is outrageous. I took out the contract on 8th December and today, 17th Jan, the email price rise has doubled the monthly cost. A 100% rise! I want to leave, but can anyone explain this in the email 'If you’re within your minimum contract period, call us within 30 days of getting this email to avoid early termination charges'. I called today to cancel, but the email I received says I must pay an early termination charge. Surely I shouldn't have to if Sky double the price in a month from taking out the contract? Any advice gratefully received.

I rang Sky this morning and they confirmed by text that the email I received was an error and there are no early termination charges to pay. Great result and thanks again for your advice.

Re: Leaving without Early termination charge
Hi @david-4571 no you shouldn't have to pay an early termination charge. Can you confirm it was a new plan you started in December ? If it is a new plan or you switched to a different plan then after 6th November then you shouldn't be seeing any price rises either. New plans or switching plans after the 6th November are not subject to the rises.

Re: Leaving without Early termination charge
Thanks very much for your reply. I had a 12 month contract with Sky mobile that ran out in December 2025, so I started another contract then for 12 months. I received all the usual emails and new contract documentation, which states it is a new 12 month contract until December 2026. I was amazed to receive a 100% price increase so soon. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Leaving without Early termination charge
At a minimum @david-4571 you should be able to leave penalty free, you will need to call again and hopefully the person you speak to is aware of the situation.
