Is my SIM a contract?
I purchased an iPhone 17 Pro on a 36 month contract in September and had to choose a SIM plan to go with it.
I never got round to activating the SIM within 31 days so was advised to order a new one. Whilst trying to order a new one using live chat, I asked why I hadn't been charged for the SIM part of the contract for the previous 3 months. I was advised that as I hadn't activated it there was nothing to charge me for.
So I then asked if there was an active contract for the SIM and I was told no. If I activate it then there is a minimum contract period of 12 months. But as it hasn't been activated I am not tied to any contract (only the 36 months device contract).
I asked if I could go to a different provider and use their SIM inside the iPhone without signing up for a SIM with Sky and was told yes this is fine. I asked if this was breaching contract and was told no.
So to clarify, do I only have a contract for the phone and not the SIM? I thought when I signed up for the contract it was for both a phone AND a SIM but maybe I misunderstood?
Please could someone clarify?

Re: Is my SIM a contract?
Hi @Becky2110 thats correct, the phone and sim contracts are separate. If you didn't activate it you aren't charged. All phones supplied by sky are unlocked and you can use any network sim in the phone.

Re: Is my SIM a contract?
What you have been told is correct.
When the sim is activated the 12 month contract starts so if you do not activate it then it is cancelled so there is no contract for it.
All Sky mobiles are unlocked so you can use any sim in it.
So unless you activate the sim you only have a contract for the phone and will do for the sim if you activate it.
