I've received a letter saying I owe you money for a mobile but I don't have a sky mobile
21 May 2022 01:27 PM
It won't let me call up to sort it out because I don't have a sky number

It says product agreement and no I've never used sky before

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI take it the letter is correctly addressed to you in person and not 'the occupier'?
Is there no reference number on there?
Bythe way you aren’t talking to Sky here. This is primarily a forum for customers to help other customers.

it's addressed to myself with an account number and they have given me a number to call to "pay my debt" but the call won't go through because I don't have a sky phone number

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHopefully you haven't been the victim of some kind of identity theft. I'm not sure they can help you in these circumstances because you won't be able to provide relevant security answers but I’ve escalated your post to Sky and the Escalation Team may get in touch with you later or maybe tomorrow. If they can't help you someone may be able to provide additional advice.
Look out for an email and also a blue/red speech bubble on the bottom left of your forum page. Once that speech bubble appears you only have 48 hours to join the private chat or it will close automatically. Again, if you fail to respond to each message from Sky within 48 hours the chat will automatically close. Replies on the chat aren’t instant so keep checking the chat thread regularly.
Please make sure that your email/private message notifications are switched to ‘on’ to avoid missing the alerts.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreJust a couple of thoughts.....
the forum filters won't let you type the phone number displayed in the letter on here but is it an 0333 number?
do you know anyone who could have taken out a deal with Sky using your details?

The exact same thing has happened to me: someone has used my name and address to get £1407 of credit with Sky Mobile and are now £88 in arrears, but it's impossible to get hold of Sky to report the identity theft. As Millie said: you call the number but it doesn't recognise you because, guess what: you're not a Sky Mobile customer. It's insanely frustrating as there is no way to report the issue - can anyone give me a way in?

Can anyone help me please.
Someone has used my name and address to get £1407 of credit with Sky Mobile and as they are now £88 in arrears, I'm getting the demands.
It's impossible to get hold of Sky to report the identity theft because when you call the number on the letters the automated system doesn't recognise you because, guess what: you're not a Sky Mobile customer.
It's insanely frustrating as there is no way to report the issue - can anyone give me a way in?

Yep. I did. But they told me the credit agency is the victim of fraud, not me so it's not within their remit to investigate it.
Annoyingly.

Hi there,
My mother has received a letter today stating the terms and services of a new sky mobile contract. However, she has never been a customer and hasn't taken out a contract. There has been a few other instances over the last year or so of identity fraud so we are worried it may be happening again. The issue it getting into contact with sky mobile so I've already reported it to the action fraud police and was wondering if there is any advice or help you could give as I hope to catch this early so it doesn't get out of control.
