Google Chrome

I have been a Sky subscriber for many years. I have Sky Q, Broadband and Sky Mobile and sim card. I have had this problem for months. When I am using Chrome, as I am typing a message appears on screen saying " Chrome has stopped, Wait". I tap on  Wait, and I can carry on typing. Immediately the message appears again. I have to keep doing this to finish typing. This is happening on and off everyday. I have tried other browsers, same problem. Chrome app is up to date, as is my phone. I have tried shutting phone down and restarting, makes no difference. I can make a call, and part way through the call suddenly ends. This problem does not happen on my PC or Tablet, so WIFI is fine. I complained to Sky, and they sent an engineer to my house to check WIFI. He said the WIFI was fine. My family and friends who are on different netwoks do not have this problem. I tried swapping the sim card from my Nokia phone to my back up Samsung phone, and the problem happens on that too.  I am coming to the conclusion that the problem is Sky Network. Would I be able to change my Network from Sky, as it is coming to a pont where enough is enough.

Does the error still occur if you disable Wifi and use mobile data ?

Re: Google Chrome

I have only 2GB on my phone. I only switch it on when I am somewhere where there is no WIFI. Next time I get the Chrome message I will turn on Mobile Data and see what happens.

Re: Google Chrome

Google message has just appeared again. I switched on Sky Mobile Data and I could use Chrome as normal. I then switched off Mobile Data and Chrome was normal. Wether this will last I will wait and see.

Re: Google Chrome

Chrome message is still happening. I am thinking of telling Sky that I don't want their SIM card anymore, and changing to another network. Does anyone know the criteria for this.

@greenveg This issue is nothing to do with your Sky sim, you've proven that yourself by stating your not using mobile data when the message appears, you won't be able to cancel your sim based on this issue if you're still within a minimum term contract.

@greenveg

Have you tried clearing Chromes cache and data:

Open the Chrome app, tap the three dots (more options), select "Settings," then "Privacy and security," followed by "Clear browsing data." Choose the time range and data types to clear, and tap "Clear data" to confirm.

Re: Google Chrome

Are you suggesting that that when Chrome message appears, and it happens two or three times a day, I have to switch on Mobile Data. I have only 2 GB of data.

That isn't what @daveNOS is suggesting, he is saying that your issue isn't anything to do with your Sky sim because the same issue is occuring when using mobile data and wifi so it must be an issue with the app, your phone or both.

Has it happened since you cleared the data and cache ?

@greenveg No-one is suggesting that, you need to find out why its happening on the phones(its not related to either your broadband or Sky sim). If clearing the cache hasn't helped and the app is fully up to date then it may suggest that something on the phones is using to much memory and that is causing Chrome to stop until memory is free'd up.

It may be worth trying safe mode on the phone to see if the error still occurs, if it doesn't then it points to one or more apps on your phone using to much memory and you may need to uninstall some that you don't use, if the error does occur in safe mode then the problem is either chrome itself(and you need to uninstall and then reinstall it) or possibly an issue with Android that may require a factory reset to fix it.
