Going places with no phone signal

Hi,

I've had to go abroad at short notice. I don't get a phone signal let alone (or data) and won't have for several months.
I didn't think about my mobile account before I left but I've heard from others that their accounts had been terminated when they got back because their phones hadn't connected to the network for so long.  They lost messages, had difficulty in getting their accounts reinstated and had to set up new numbers on their return.
Can someone tell me how much of this is true please? What happens if your phone can't connect to the Sky, or any, network for a while?

Thanks,

Hi @Dan_N  it may be worth calling sky for a definitive answer. There was something introduced a while back where your phone had to connect to your home (sky) network every 3 months I think it was or the contract could be terminated. This was part of EU roaming agreements so may no longer apply in the UK.

Thanks for replying @63johnw

It seems I need to get in touch with Sky but that brings another problem. With no phone signal I can't call! I've found a contact number (removed), but my only way of calling out is via WhatsApp and that doesn't recognise the number.

Is there an email address for Sky Mobile? This forum is serchable of public internet so I don't particularly want to go into the full details of where I am, how long for etc on here.

Moderator note: Removed phone number

It seems I need to contact Sky but I'm stuck. I can't phone them, because of having no signal, and WhatsApp doesn't recognise the number I found on the Sky Website. We've no landlines to use either.

Do Sky have a customer email address? As this forum is viewable publically I don't want to go too much into the details of where I am, how long for etc on here.

Hi @Dan_N  there is no email for customer facing use. To see if they can help I will escalate your post to the messaging team at sky so look out for a coloured speech bubble on here inviting you to a private chat.
