Giffgaff won't charge the £2, which adds up, esp as we have four mobile plans with Sky, so that can be up to £56 a week more when we are on holiday.
Here is their plan for EU:
EU and selected destinations
Your plan’s calls and texts allowance can be used in the EU just like at home and at no extra cost.
There’s a faur use limit on data of 5 GB. If you go over it’ll cost 10p/MB, or you can start a new plan early which will give you another 5 GB allowance.
Rest of the world
If you’re travelling outside the EU and selected destinations there are different charges for calls, texts and data depending on the country.
But I recall at the time, Sky was better at international packages for the US, so I switched to Sky.

Interesting - thanks for that. It might make sense for my husband to stay on SKY (he does a lot of international travel) and for me to move to Giffgaf. Especially as I need a Esim and he doesn't. Might be able to get the best of both worlds that way. I am just scared of moving and then having the same Esim probs but by next weekend if I am no further forward then that is exactly what I will do. Thanks again.

Giffgaff's international packages might have changed, so take a look and compare against Sky's. Sky is raising its prices in April, other carriers may too.

I had this issue too, and turning off WiFi before requesting the code sorted it for me. If that doesn’t work, trying a different phone number might help.

Will definitely try this to see if it works!

Hi, any success?

By the way in the end Sky rang me back and said they dont have a fix and they have no idea when the fix will be (days, weeks, months) so they themselves suggested that I change provider and also said that if I am in any contract they will allow me to break it with no penalty. So that is what I did. Good luck to everyone else!

I turned off my WiFi and I can't believe that worked. I have now got all 3 esims working in the same day. I am gobsmacked that worked after trying to get it sorted with Sky since the 13 December!
Thank you so much.

Wow! It bloody worked!!!
Thank you!
Sky customer services have been telling me to just wait for the 4 digit PIN before scanning but I was never convinced that was the issue.
Your solution made so much more sense.
Sky - you should be ashamed of yourself of your training materials, support and processes not to have spotted something so fundamental and easy to resolve.

Someone should make this a sticky for how to fix esim issues! 2 months and finally fixed!

BTW I should add - turning off the WiFi only fixes the eSim activation issue once you have the final 4 digit PIN which should come through email to your account that is registered with the account.
The eSim PIN can take up to 10 minutes to arrive.

actually...you can double-check that your number is entered correctly and that your signal is strong enough. If it still doesn't work, try using a different WiFi network or mobile data. I’ve come across Tardigrada.io, which was helpful in cases like this.

I could not get that email. System rolls not trigger it.
I kept the kids on sky mobile, I've moved to giffgaff eSIM (O2 network), it took less than 5 minutes to convert the new giffgaff physical sim to eSIM, and it was all done via giffgaff app.
