Emojis

Hi all, recently taken out an additional Sky mobile contract, however for some reason I am incurring charges for each message I send with an emoji on it, whether it be a thumbs up, a smiley face or whatever, is this correct, I was never told they would be chargeable and neither do my t's and c's or contract indicate I would be charged for these, surely this can't be right can it?

Hi @Chadwick1Gerrard0  i have never been charged for a message with an emoji in whilst with sky. Is your phone converting them to mms ? What phone do you have ?

Re: Emojis

The bill that is being charged is my mums bill, I just pay the bill for her, I can see the messages that have been sent as they are to my own number and they are a couple of lines long with a thumbs up on them, however my phone is an iPhone 12 and my mums phones is a Galaxy a55 (I think)

It could be that if there are a few lines then the phone is converting them to MMS @Chadwick1Gerrard0  as with some phones there is a setting which, once the message gets to a certain amount of characters, converts it and as mms are chargeable it could be that.

Yup... I always disable MMS...

Also, probably best to avoid using native phone apps and use a generic messager such as WhatsApp that uses data instead of SMS/MMS.
