Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

So before I joined sky I checked my full 2 years data usage with Vodafone. I never went over 9GB per month. When I joined sky I got the 20GB of data just to be safe. I'm in my 3rd month of being with sky. Last month I used 13GB, which seemed high for me. Now this month apparently I have used 11.5GB in 7 days and will now run out of data before the month ends. I'm using my phone the exact same way I have for months apart from I actually use wifi more now so this doesn't make sense. I turned my mobile data completely off. I reset my mobile data settings on my iPhone to also track my data usage that way. I apparently used 0.5GB of data according to sky when it was switched off, yet my iPhone tells me I used 0. I can't believe I've entered a 3 year contract and can't get out of it. I've read so many people having the same issues. Surely they can't just scam us out of data? By this rate I'll have used 20GB of data in 14 days when I've never got close to that in a month!!! Not happy!!!!

Have you been through the apps to see what is using the data as there could be some running in the background, so if there are some using a bit that you don't use then you should be able to disable them.

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

Hello, I've done all that now and I've completely turned my mobile data off when I'm in places with wifi. I've switched my phone to low data mode so there is nothing running in the background. The problem is I've never had this issue with any other provider and I've never had to be this careful with data. 11.5GB in a week is impossible when I've been home all week using wifi.

Having exactly this issue with 2 phones. Data usage has suddenly rocketed by around 30 - 40% and not getting any answers from Sky. Promised to escalate and call back but they haven't.

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

I have noticed recently I keep having to top up my data and have had to use my rolled-over data every couple of days.

This does not seem correct. Is Sky trying to deliberately use up my rolled-up data? Trying to force me onto a more expensive plan?

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

I know, I was just annoyed at Sky. Been a Sky VIP for 8 years and it's getting more and more expensive and the mobile service where I live is sometimes very weak, one or two bars.

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

Hi I'm having the same problem and seems to have coincided with getting a new phone (iPhone upgrade) recently.

I see no one here has really got any answers. What is the best course of action?

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

I gave up. Waited for a double data deal and bought a bigger package.

Re: Data usage is wrong. Taking too much data

I've phoned sky several times about this - I am also connected to Wi-Fi all day at home but still using 2gb daily according them - constantly pulling from piggy bank - it stops for a few days and then starts again.  Only have data available on the apps I use regularly and have turned off the rest, but have gone from 3-4 GB per month to nearly 20 !

Hi @Ruthwh  what does your phones data monitor say is using the data ? Turn mobile data off when at home and the phone can't drop from WiFi onto mobile data.
