You will always have to pay for data (unless you use local WiFi only).

However, it will depend on the country as you may be able to pay £2 for 24 hours access to your package or it could be a 'rest of world' location which can be very expensive...

For reference, £2 per day roaming only applies to the EU/EEA and overseas territories of EU nations, plus the handful of countries listed in bold below. 

The vast majority of global destinations are 'rest of world' rate and consequently extremely expensive.
