Data roaming not working

Came on holiday to tenerife and always seems to take longer than any other network to find a suitable network over here. Other people with me seem to get connected straight away. After finally registering on another network I can't access data roaming for a while. Then the network service is in and out and now can't use data roaming again. Any ideas of the problem?
