Data going abroad
My son has just gone abroad to Barbados. Will he be charged if he is using data roaming?
He has loads of data in his piggy bank.
Ive tried to look into data passport but I don't know how to add or what's the best thing to do.

Re: Data going abroad
It is a Rest Of The World destination and costs will be extremely high as per this link https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-mobile-roaming-destinations-and-charges
The cheapest solution is to get a local SIM card when he arrives or only use free Wi-Fi.
He needs to make sure roaming / data are switched off before leaving the UK and switch on flight mode. Once free WiFi is available just turn on WiFi whilst still in flight mode.

Re: Data going abroad
Hi @Nats4 the £2 is mainly for EU countries plus a few more. It's very expensive to use sky data in Barbados, thousands of pounds per gig. It's worth checking the account spend caps, even though he is in the air and reduce them so large bills are activated as soon as they land. Also send messages telling them to turn off mobile data and roaming as soon as they land. Also turn on flight mode then just turn on WiFi when available.

Re: Data going abroad
£2 a day is for Roaming Passport Plus but that location is a Rest of The World location.
The charges could amount to
£2,160 per GB (that is Two thousand one hundred and sixty pounds)
£2.16 per minute Calls to local or UK mobile and landline numbers
£1.80 per minute to receive calls
£0.50 per text message to Uk numbers and mobiles
£0.58 per mms picture message

Re: Data going abroad
The only islands in that part of the world where £2 roaming applies are overseas territories of EU nations: Barbados is a sovereign nation and so a really expensive place to use a Sky SIM.
SIM cards for the two Barbadian networks (Flow and Digicel) should be widely available, including at the airport.
For information, £2 roaming in the Carribbean applies in:
Aruba (Netherlands Antilles)
Bonaire (Netherlands Antilles)
Curacao (Netherlands Antilles)
French Guiana (French West Indies)
Guadeloupe (French West Indies)
Martinique (French West Indies)
Saba (Netherlands Antilles)
Sint Eustatius (Netherlands Antilles)
Sint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles)
St Barthelemy (French West Indies)
St Martin (French West Indies)
