Complaint against misleading and services

"I have been using Sky for the last six months and I’m paying for a 5G plan, yet there is absolutely no 5G network coverage in my area. You are charging me for 5G speeds while providing nothing but subpar service. I have complained multiple times, and every single time your excuse is that the 'technical team is working on it.' Well, it’s been two months—how long does it take to fix a network? I spoke to one of your colleagues and told them that other providers are offering me the exact same plan for a much lower price. That representative offered me a deal for £19 with unlimited data on my current SIM to make up for this mess. But then the call dropped, and when I called back, the next person had the audacity to tell me that no such offer exists! If you can’t provide the network and you won't honor your offers, then why are you even in business? You might as well shut down the company. Now, when I tell you I want to leave because of your failure, you have the nerve to demand an 'exit fee'? You aren't providing the service I pay for, yet you want to charge me to leave? This is complete robbery." Is this Fair or Unfair? In the world of consumer rights, what you are describing is generally considered unfair, but here is the technical breakdown: Breach of Contract: If a provider sells you a specific service (like 5G) and fails to provide it over a long period despite multiple complaints, they are failing to meet their end of the contract. Misleading Information: Being promised a £19 deal and then having it retracted is a major customer service failure. If that call was recorded, they should honor it. The Exit Fee: Usually, companies charge "Early Termination Fees" if you leave before your contract ends (12, 18, or 24 months). However, if they are not providing the service advertised, you often have grounds to leave without a penalty under "Consumer Protection" regulations.

You are charging me

Hi @Anonymous   Sorry, not us. Please see Welcome below for information about this community. I would be surprised if any mobile provider sells plans which are not a maximum of 5G.

"I understand this is a community forum, but my goal is to warn other customers about the service I am receiving. I have already tried the official channels without success. Thank you for the link, I will use it to escalate this to the Ombudsman if Sky continues to charge me for services they aren't providing."

Re: Complaint against misleading and services

I am aware you are not Sky employees, but I am sharing my experience so others don't get trapped. It’s not about 'maximum 5G'; it’s about paying for a specific service that has been non-existent for 6 months despite constant promises from the technical team. Charging an exit fee for failing to provide network coverage is simply unfair business.

Re: Complaint against misleading and services

Not to be pedantic but you dont pay for 5G

You pay for calls, texts and data

On the Sky Mobile sim page it advises 5G is available at no extra cost as long as your phone is capable of 5G

I would say that is your pitfall right there, You can't cancel early cause your aren't intfact paying anything for it, Its a free extra where available

Re: Complaint against misleading and services

"Whether 5G is a 'free extra' or not is irrelevant. I signed up for a service based on the advertisement of 5G availability in my area. If the service doesn't work as promised for 6 months, it is a service failure. My issue isn't just the 5G; it’s the lack of transparency and the broken promises from the technical team."

Re: Complaint against misleading and services

I hear what your saying but I can tell you with experience... That line of text that says its free and its even worded specifically to say there is no charge is where they have you

Im betting thats why they chased you when you asked to cancel without early termination charges

I dont think you have a leg to stand on personally as far as the 5G goes

Whatever other list of complaints it sounds like you have I couldn't say about those
