Cannot get through to sky 'support'. extortionate roaming charges

Got a wild bill for roaming charges.

No way of contacting support - I have tried the robot chat bot and calling the phone number. Cannot get through to anyone.

I switched phone on abroad and first thing I did was to then switch to wifi and set roaming on off.

For some reason unbeknown to me, the phone managed to rack up data against my wishes.

And Sky only alerted me to the bill one day before they took the money from the account.

 

Anyone at Sky can look into this for me?

What country were you in as the daily £2 charge doesn't apply to all others as really expensive to use data in.

Hi @kelvindaz  if your phone connected and used the data then calling sky won't help as you are liable for the charges, with modern smart phones a lot of data can be used very quickly. In future always turn mobile data and roaming off before leaving the Uk. Turn your phones flight mode on then just turn WiFi on when you are in a free WiFi  area.

it was £30

more than anyone's monthly bill.

not sure how they can get away with it...

£30 isn't that bad compared to some I have seen @kelvindaz , not just with sky, it happens on other networks too.

At the typical 'rest of the world' data rate, £30 is less than 15 megabytes of data.
