Caller ID Spoofing?

Has anyone been a victim to what seems to be Caller ID Spoofing?  Today at 14:30 my phone started going crazy.  I got dozens of phone calls, messages, voice mail alerts.  My voicemail box quickly got ful.  Luckily I only use this eSim for data, so eventually I was able to switch it off (not easy when you are constantly being called).  I have another line, so called sky.  They thought that I was getting spam calls.  I know the difference.  This is something that I've never heard of.  It was pretty scary.  I was also getting abusive text messages.  I've asked SKY to investigate, and all they wanted to do was sell me another sim.  I raised a formal complaint, but it seems that they opened the case and closed the case.  I'll wait 72 hours (while they investigate - or not) and will call back.  I'm not switching that eSim back on.  I want a replacement, but I don't want to have to pay for it.  Any thoughts?

Yes, unfortunately that's reported frequently.  The only positive thing to note is that the scammers who are faking that particular number typically move on to another one rather rapidly.

Re: Caller ID Spoofing?

My son  who is autistic, woke up this afternoon and was really upset and getting irate and angry at  many missed calls and texts he'd received
the texts  were saying that his number has been reported.....and up until now  he's had constant calls and texts to which iv'e had to answer a few and explain to the callers that my son didn't make any phone calls....
many said they'd had missed calls from his number.
 it's obvious that his number has been spoofed and i reported it to sky, aswell as action fraud.

sky are now sending out a new sim card with a new number,iv'e no idea how his number has been spoofed i've asked him if he's downloaded anything on his iphone,but he said he hasnt..

@LeedsLass1969

It is completely random as it is doubtful that it is anything your son has done to cause this to happen, usually those that have done this will move on after a little while.

Thanks for your reply,
it beats me how they manage to spoof people's numbers..and get away with it.

Hi @LeedsLass1969  the UK government are looking at making this illegal and banning it within the next 12 months.
