Caller ID Spoofing?

Has anyone been a victim to what seems to be Caller ID Spoofing?  Today at 14:30 my phone started going crazy.  I got dozens of phone calls, messages, voice mail alerts.  My voicemail box quickly got ful.  Luckily I only use this eSim for data, so eventually I was able to switch it off (not easy when you are constantly being called).  I have another line, so called sky.  They thought that I was getting spam calls.  I know the difference.  This is something that I've never heard of.  It was pretty scary.  I was also getting abusive text messages.  I've asked SKY to investigate, and all they wanted to do was sell me another sim.  I raised a formal complaint, but it seems that they opened the case and closed the case.  I'll wait 72 hours (while they investigate - or not) and will call back.  I'm not switching that eSim back on.  I want a replacement, but I don't want to have to pay for it.  Any thoughts?

Yes, unfortunately that's reported frequently.  The only positive thing to note is that the scammers who are faking that particular number typically move on to another one rather rapidly.
