Call charged in Spain

I have recently spent 7 days in Spain where I used my mobile as I normally would at home, in the UK, on the understanding that the Sky Passport would kick-in at a charge of £2 a day. On return, I have checked my bill and I was indeed charged £2 a day. But I was also charged an extra £7.70 for calls. Can anyone explain why. I would ring Sky. But after having had major head and neck surgery, It is difficult being understood and don't get past the automated vetting when I call. There is no facilities for email. But that's another matter. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Ron+Kay  did you make any calls to local numbers in Spain as they are not covered ? Did you call a non geographic number in the UK as it's only mobile and normal 01, 03 etc numbers that are covered ? What does you bill say the charge is for ?

Yes. Most of the calls I made were for local Taxis. Maybe it would have been cheaper not to use the Sky Passport and just paid for my calls. Is this possible?. I didn't see anything in the info online about local calls not being part of the passport package.

That will explain the charges @Ron+Kay

"Reminder: For any calls and texts to local numbers in the destination you're visiting, like calling to local taxi number, or international numbers outside the UK, extra charges apply. See the Sky Mobile tariff guide."

You can't not use the passport then still make calls. As soon as you make any call it activates the passport, there is no opt out.

It's somewhat convoluted logic, but the £2 per day allows access to the UK calls/texts/data bundle which doesn't include calling a different country.
