3 year mobile contracts

I've had sky mobile now for almost 4 years I always took a 3 year contract for the cheapest iPhone  as no admin fee as they do admin fees on the 12 month contract looks like I will have to leave mobile side in 2028 since when did Sky start charging admin fee for 3 year mobile contract it used to just be the 12 month contracts it's slightly annoyed me

I've never heard of admin charges related to mobile contracts...  (Can be charged for TV/Broadband deals)

@Yoghurt Where are you seeing an admin fee being charged? The only thing i see on device contracts is an upfront payment and thats not an admin fee(its taken off the overall balance).

@PandJ2020  When you click when you pick a device on 12 months it says so much upfront but never saw it on a 24 month device until today on a 24 month one it used to say £0 but I looked at my next cheapest one eg iPhone 15 they want £12 upfront  admin fees for a 3 year contract

I haven't checked myself but I suspect it's a down payment as per @daveNOS said.  (Reducing the balance as opposed to an admin charge)

@Yoghurt The upfront fee is not an admin fee, Sky have always had them it's just they where mainly requested of those who only just passed the credit check(the amount would vary based on how close the application was to being declined), now though it seems they are adding it to most new contracts as standard.

Any upfront fee is taken off the overall balance of the device.

You can also trade in u used data from your piggybank @Yoghurt  and that can reduce/cover the upfront cost in some cases.
