Trying to watch downloads while offline

I have downloaded programs to watch on Sky Go while I don't have internet (windows), but when I start the app I don't get any further than "we're having problems connecting you. Please try again (001)". No big surprise that they can't connect me without internet, but what's the point of allowing downloads if I can't access them because the app won't start without internet?

Is this the PC version of the app, if it is then it might be because when the app is loaded up it looks for updates before it completes loading up. The mobile versions of the app are more likely to allow you to view downloaded content with no internet connection.
