Skygo & Trojan

My anti-virus (Eset) is detecting a trojan on the latest skygo update and deleting the file as a result, so i can't launch sky go, it's pointing to this:C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Sky\Sky Go\resources\is-742U9.tmp

any ideas/help please?

Re: Skygo & Trojan

One thing you could try is temporarily disabling or uninstalling Eset. You won't be left unprotected, as the default Windows Defender will step in to provide anti-virus protection when Eset isn't active.

Also I ran this search on the Eset forum where there are posts mentioning problems with Sky and Eset.

@ldene66

I think a .tmp file is a temporary one so it might be one that is not needed to run Sky Go.

Having seen your post I have just updated mine on my PC and don't have that is-742U9 file in the resources folder so, and you do this at your own risk, I winder if deleting it will then see the app load up ?

Re: Skygo & Trojan

Thanks.

I've just tried installing it again, same anti-virus message, but the file name is different, still points to the resource folder but different name and there isn't a single .tmp in that folder to delete anyway.

I've also reached out to Eset, cause it's probably a false positive, but it's something that Sky likely need to get involved in.

Re: Skygo & Trojan

I would first try uninstalling Skygo, then going to the directory concerned and seeing if the file is still there.  If it is, I would suggest it's not part of the Skygo program.  I would delete both the Sky and Skygo directories and reinstall.

I would also suggest running a scan of your PC to make sure you don't have a virus somewhere.

Re: Skygo & Trojan

Uninstalled skygo, it left an empty sky folder which i deleted, 2 different virus scans found nothing anwyhere else on the PC. Reinstalled skygo, issue remains.

Anyone know a way to contact sky that isn't a phonecall? Cause i really don't fancy that.

Appreciate the assistance!

Re: Skygo & Trojan

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I did do a search on Eset forum but it didn't find anything of relevance.

Re: Skygo & Trojan

Has anyone having problems tried temporarily uninstalling Eset and seeing if Skygo works?  Removing Eset will mean the default Windows Defender will step in and protect you.

Re: Skygo & Trojan

Yes - but even easier was just pausing ESET for 10 minutes, doing the update then continuing and it worked fine

ESET was up and running whilst I was using Sky Go / ran scans and nothing was noted.

Re: Skygo & Trojan

How do you pause ESET?
