Sky go/ PS5

I recently purchased Sky, I have the ultrafast sky stream/broadband package. I asked the sales rep if I needed to buy an extra box in order to watch sky from my bedroom. We discussed that I had a PS5 and he specifially told me that I didn't need to spend any extra money, I could watch sky go for free on my PS5 and my phone and until my subscription went live I had full access to the cinema channels but after my subscription was live I could still watch all the channels except the cinema/sport ones. I thought this was great, accepted the contract and had watched sky go on my ps5 with no isses. Then I had a problem last night where my tv (Samsung) wouldn't connect this has now been fixed but I also kept recieveing an error message when signing in to Sky go on the PS5 to say I can't use sky go on this device and need Sky Q or the whole home package. I thought this can't be right as it was working fine and so I called in this morning.

The guy I spoke to this morning fixed the samsung connection issue and also said that I didn't need to spend any extra and just needed to download the new sky plus app from the playstation store. I went to do this after the phone call and there was no sky plus app there only the sky go app which is already downloaded. 

I called in a second time this morning and spoke to a lady who said the information from the previous two was totally wrong and I could only watch sky go on my ps5 if I get the whole home package. We debated for a little while as I felt i'd been misold sky and she didn't actually believe me that I'd been able to watch sky go on the ps5 at all (I 100% had) anyway she the offered me a discounted price for the sky extra/whole home and said she would escalate being given the wrong information. I accepted as I want to be able to watch sky from my room. 

My question is, who is actually right here or am I now paying even more money for no reason? Can I watch sky go in my bedroom on Ps5 through having  a sky stream puck in the front room OR is that genuinley not possible without the whole home package? If it's the latter, how was I able to watch skygo on my PS5 a week ago!?

To use the Sky Go app on a console as a Sky Glass customer you do need the whole home package.

I have just had this same issue. I was sold on the fact I could use my PS5 with Sky Go which worked fine until my Sky Puck arrived.

I've found that the sales people full believe this even after checking with multiple colleagues they all come back saying that Sky Go should work with zero issues. Whereas Sky Support will disagree and say you require Sky Go Extra.

Why must I pay extra for a feature that was promised. Sky Go is Sky Go. My PS5 should can't do anything different than my mobile device so why am I being charged to use it.

It's ridiculous that they want an extra £5.

The difference is that your PS5 can be connected to a TV and therefore Sky channels can be watched on a big screen.

Sky Go is designed to enable the watching of Sky content "on the go" on mobile devices and thus smaller screens. Sky see anything that can be connected to a TV essentially as an additional Sky box/puck and therefore they want people to have to pay more for it. In theory a person could take their PS5 over to a non-Sky subscribed household, and connect it to a TV to watch Sky content. Obviously Sky don't really want people to do that as it loses them potentially subscribers which is likely the reason an extra charge is required for Sky Go Extra as a way of at least bringing in some additional revenue to compensate.

That would make perfect sense except for the fact I can use Screen Mirror on my mobile device or maybe use my laptop to watch on larger screens. Both of which are far more mobile and easy to setup anywhere like a friends house than a console.

The device is an extension of my household and one of Sky Go intended purposes is to let multiple people watch simultaneously. So if I wanted to watch something in one room and my partner in another why should we be charged extra for our device of choice.

They should rename and remarket Sky Go in regards to consoles since it's  not the same as Sky Go Extra. On top of which people who are selling these products should be properly informed of these things as they are also unaware of this.
