I have seen previous post re issues with mac, this is with a clean install of windows 11. Tried uninstalling re-installing Sky Go on admin and user accounts but always seems to install ok and then on first opening gets stuck on "Downloadng update" screen.

I have read on other threads about turning wifi on and off. I have done this whilst app is trying to open and whilst closed. I have tried via wifi and ethernet. Nothing seems to fix it. When I turn the wifi off and reload the app I get....
CONNECTING YOUR APPLICATION We are having problems connecting the application. Please make sure that you are connected .. & a Try Again button but it is unresponsive and I have to shut the app down.
I have tried turning off firewall and various other things, last thing to try is cancelling my Direct Debit.

If you want to cancel your subscription then you have to give Sky the correct amount of notice as per your contract.
Just cancelling your DD is not advised and can have adverse affects

I don't know about anyone else but I'm ready to depart company with sky over there constant inability to sort sky go which is my primary access to sky. GCSE level coders would have sorted this by now they obviosly don't care this is a constant recurring problem. I suggest anyone in the same position leave as well the content is available elsewhere and I don't blame anyone for trying to get the content for free illeagally if sky cannot provide what is promised with there service, Besides which the content has been on the slide for some time better off selecting your own content on the tube!

I take it you have uninstalled the app and then downloaded it again ?

I have done more than unistalled the app, I have reinstalled windows as well. I have tried installing the app on administrator and non administrator accounts. It seems Sky Go app is notorious for this issue.

Ok. Solution is to turn off wifi and ethernet.
turn off before starting SkyGo
it stops saying update, then turn back on wifi/ethernet whilst SkyGo still loading.
i had to log back in but it works.
thanks for whomever said wifi originally! 👍👍

I'm very pleased that the turn the wifi on/off trick works for some, but just because it works for you does not make it a universal fix. It does NOT work for me.

I have a solution (for me)
Sky was falling to open on a desktop and laptop.
Desktop is a new build and new install of windows 11 and Sky Go. Connected via Ethernet and Wifi
Laptop is old with Sky Go already insatalled.
Neither would open
ISP is Three (Enough said - it's not great)
So I though may be an ISP issue.
Sky Go does open on phone when connected to Wifi (Maybe phone seen differently and ISP allows it)
Turned off phone Wifi and put data on, connected desktop to Phone via hotspot (TalkMobile- Vodafone network)
Retried openeing closing Sky with hotspot turned on/off as various others suggest and with patience it worked.
Sky opened on desktop and part of inital set told me some of the firewall settings needed adjusting and it made the changes for me.
Using the same hotspot method I also managed to get laptop working.
Turned off Phone hotspot and back on Main house Wifi and it opens still.
I tried for weeks using the wifi on/off method without success, it was changing to mobile hotspot which got me over the issue, matbe it will work for others.
