Eventually got it loaded  applied this fix - Sky Go icon, select Properties, then choose the Compatibility tab, if there is, remove the checkmark from the box Run the program in compatibility mode for and click first on the Apply button and then on OK to save the settings.

Did you do a complete uninstall of the app as per this:

Uninstall the Sky Go app and then go to 'C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming (ensure hidden files/folders are visible) and delete the following folders:

Sky
Sky Go

And if it is present the Cisco and/or Synamedia folder in App\Data\LocalLow.
Empty your recycle bin.

Reboot your PC and then download and install the Sky Go app again.

Incidentally, I'd argue it's somewhat naughty of Sky to install an app in a profile folder like that because if a user is doing things 'properly' (i.e. working from an account with 'user' privileges and using an 'Install as' right-click on the downloaded Sky Go installer) the executable disappears into the Administrator profile and never works for the named user at all, as I found out the hard way this past weekend...

Re: Sky Go on computer

Thanks everyone for their help, but it will not install on my computer. I shall use this as a negotiating a new Sky contract price shortly.

Given Go is 'free' (as in not listed for a monthly charge) I suspect that won't exert much leverage.

As I mentioned above, I installed Go on Win10 last weekend and (apart from the confusion over ithe location of the executable) it works just fine.
