Sky Go not working since upgrade to macOS Monterey

I Have been happily using my SkyGo app on my MacBook until I upgraded last night to macOS Monterey 12.3 and now can't load SkyGo.  I have deleted the app and completed a clean up using Cleaner One Pro (3 times) and still not loading.

I have contacted Apple and they think it isn't compatible with Monterey?

MacOS 12.3 update - no content plays and app crashes

Since the most recent update to MacOS Monterey 12.3 no content is playing on the Sky Go desktop app, it stays on a black screen and doesn't load live channels or pre-roll ads for anything On Demand. The app is also being buggy as a lot of the content tiles don't load any artwork. I'm using an M1 Mac, not sure if it's behaving the same way on Intel machines. Will there be an update to address this?

Re: Sky Go not working since upgrade to macOS Monterey

I have just had a 2 hour session with Apple and they are confident that the Skygo Ap isn't compatible with Monterey 12.3.  We did get it to load eventyually but then screen went black.

Re: Sky Go not working since upgrade to macOS Monterey

I found that the skygoinstaller works if it is downloaded using `big Sur'

it will run on monterey.

also copying the skygo.exe from `big Sur' works.

My long winded approach to this was as follows :-

download the install macos  Big Sur

create bootable usb and download big sur to it

create new volume on monterey and named is bigsurvol

booted from usb and installed big sur on bigsurvol

this failed 1st time but worked 2nd time

could then download skygoinstaller on big sur and ran it

skygo then worked on monterey

I now run skygo from big sur volume when using monterey macos

all the steps for downloading macos big sur and creating bootable usb and installing and creating volume are on macworld.

just google it , its all there.

hope this helps some people.

Re: Sky Go not working since upgrade to macOS Monterey

just realised that if mac has been backed up you could get back previous version of skygo  🙂

Re: Sky Go not working since upgrade to macOS Monterey

So I have a quick fix or work around if you like, on the mac, create a new user. Install the sky go desktop app, works all the time. It's not ideal but from what I have gathered over the years, the problem is caused by the junk left behind from the last version of sky go which is nearly impossible to delete entirely.
