Hi All, I decided to call sky and I went through 5 departments and got a tenner off I managed to speak to a consultant with contact to the back office and she told me they are aware off the issue and that they are investigating the issue and that it will be fixed in the next update. I suggested to make the update optional but by the sound off it this is not very likely, I told them I hope this time it will be less that 4 months before a new update aspecially as hey had it working last month, I asked them also to broadcast it when it is updated and got the advice to try it every week until it works 😣

Yep - sounds very much like my issue.
Also on Macbook Air M2 2022, running sequioa 15.1.
Up until fairly recently I never had any real issues with the skygo app, but now it crashes repeatedly. Much like you, sometimes it'll last minutes, on the odd occasion it'll last an hour+. Have also done the same uninstall/delete everything/redownload dance that I'm assuming we've all tried (mine does successfully redownload and start up again at least).
From the multitude of replies and posts the app itself is obviously busted right now. Not sure we can do anything aside from wait for them to sort it out. Very frustrating.

My Sky Go now also won't run on Mac Book Pro, Sonoma 14.7 (23H124). I don't get an error message, it just runs for a second and then closes. I've deleted all traces of the app in the Applications and Library folders, reinstalled using the latest version from Sky.com, and it still won't run. The date on the files in the installer ZIP are 18th October 2024.

Using a 2009 iMac with Opencore Legacy Patcher so can't play around with SIP settings. SkyGo app was working fine a while back but now refuses to launch - just a couple of bobs up and down in the dock and that's it. No error messages, no blue window, nothing. v24.2.3.
I've got an old installer for v23.5.1 which installs and runs but then does the automatic 'update' and reverts to the above scenario. Disabling network connection before install of 23.5.1. just results in message saying....
CONNECTING YOUR APPLICATION
We are having problems connecting the application. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet and try again.
Try Again
Disabling the auto-update would be good as an option. A working app would be even better. Sky - please revert back to your previous SIP requirements when the app just worked and everyone was happy! It's not good enough.

There is a difference in the installation between installing old and the new sky go app and remove it again please see the difference what is installed between the old and the new app the old app installs completely and the new sky go app installs only a part.

Thank you for bringing me up.
The issue is still persistent. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next update. Meanwhile, I have moved on to the Virgin Media services / Virgin TV Go. It fits my purpose so far. I am searching for an alternative to Sky Sports that offers online services. Once I find one, I will gradually move away from Sky completely. It has been a difficult year with them.

Posted by a Sky employeeHi all,
To add to this thread, we do not recommend or support in disabling SIP on MAC devices. This is documented on Apples website also and is intended to protect your device. Disabling this has it's own risks and leaves your MAC vulnerable.
Our support teams require more information in order to be able to investigate this issue further. Moving forward, can any users who are specifically finding that their Sky Go app on MAC won't launch provide the following information:
Exact error you are seeing (screenshot or screen capture of the issue would be great)
Any specific error messages you are seeing?
How often is it occurring?
Steps to reproduce issue?
Make and model of device?
OS version?
Troubleshooting steps completed so far to try and resolve the problem?
Any workarounds you have found (e.g., uninstalling other apps, closing Sky Go and restarting app)?
We are looking specifically only for users were Sky Go MAC bounces from the menu bar and then disappears - the app does not launch.
If you have a different issue to the above, please start a new discussion thread.
Marking this as the best answer for now, for visibility.
Thanks,

Hi @Daniel-F we put in there as it is, we gave you all kind off information and the app doesn't install fully the best information we gave you is that the previous version worked. I offered some more log files but you didn't react, just roll back to the previous version and test the next update properly. If I would treat customers like this I would have been sacked, I used this option most and already lost it for 4 months and now it looks like it is happening again.

Hi @Daniel-F
I am using an iMac 2009 (9,1). I am using OpenCore Legacy Patcher (tried several versions up to 2.1.2 - makes no difference) and have performed clean installations of various MacOS, including the latest versions of Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma and Sequioa.
The SkyGo app used to worked fine with this configuration up until about 3 or 4 months ago. Since then, all that happens is that after I download and run the SkyGoInstaller (1.1.0 Fri18thOct), it finishes the install and tries to launch the SkyGo app. No windows or error messages appear. It bounces in the dock and then closes.
Please revert to a previous version!
