If you have run cleanup and hence cannot remove the fix, then a refresh install is your only option as posted by me on post 75. A repair install by WU does not work as it does not remove the fix.

Also don't forget to pause updates for a while on the Windows Update page so that it doesn't re-install itself.

I had wondered if manually downloading the update and reinstalling it would allow it to reappear on the uninstall list, but it will not reinstall unfortunately.

It may be possible to use the System Restore function for Windows if it has been enabled.  I don't use it myself so I have no experience of it. So if you can't remove the fix try this instead.  Right-click on the windows button, select run, and enter rstrui . If there's a restore point from a date before the fix was installed this might do it for you.

I tried that the other day but the restore point fails as well, I know Windows reasonably well as I worked for IBM in the past, but this update is doing strange things it shouldn't, but it Microsoft so that's to be expected 🙄

@microcat36 ....it certainly is causing Windows problems......as I've mentioned M$ Tech couldn't uninstall the 'update' and have done something unrepairable when they (remotely) tried resetting my Laptop to before the suspected Update issue.

They also failed reinstalling Windows 11 which totally crashed.

Nobody is accepting responsibility, but being sceptical, I think the problem is more severe than anyone's admitting to.
