Re: Sky Go Error
As I've posted here earlier, I have 2 desktops and a laptop running Skygo. They all got the problem and I removed the preview update KB5101684 from all of them leaving them still with the Dell update KB5121767 (level 8894) installed. I've been using the laptop and one PC on this level all week and also checking the other PC is OK.
But this second PC now gixes the error even though it still has the Dell update installed like the others. It also does not allow me to uninstall it anymore. So this proves it is the Dell update that has caused the error but I don't know why the other two are working. These however still allowed me to uninstall it, so I've done that pronto.

Re: Sky Go Error
Whilst i agree with the shout-oit for @RFS123 , I must say the deflection and reliance on Sky on the Community isn't good enough.
1) Sky took 3 full days to acknowledge they were looking into the issue.
2) it's appears Sky are deflecting to the Forums as a quick fix.... this can lead to compounded problems as everyone doesn't have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM/OPTIONS TO FIX (EG. ABILITY TO UNINSTALL THE WINDOWS UPGRADE).
3) Sky should of taken responsibility and acknowledged the problem immediately....in my case I was told to contact M$ and because of whatever this issue is, when they tried resetting, I've had Windows uninstall ... ALL BECAUSE SKY DIDNT TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Re: Sky Go Error
@Quantumninja in respect of my monthly cost, yes, don't have a dodgy stick so have to pay for Sports (Sky and BT).....I presently don't live at home as I'm caring for my mother (90 and in I'll health).....so I rely on SjyGo.
I note you are extremely knowledgeable on the 'programming' side of the App and the internal workings of Sky.
This Community Team with their 'Official' notification of Sky's involvement (3 days after reported) isn't a great show. Maybe an update on an ETA - DAYS, WEEKS OR MONTHS, may give us hope ?
As I've said, this still won't work for me, because it's wiped my Windows.

Re: Sky Go Error
Sorry this happened to you, but Sky were right insofar as it is a Microsoft problem and unfortunately Microsoft mucked up your computer not Sky, Sky didn't reset your computer so you should be venting at Microsoft.

Re: Sky Go Error
Just posted on this thread, saw I'd made a typo, but when I tried to correct it found the post had been deleted. Are further posts on this topic not being allowed?

Re: Sky Go Error
@RFS123 The typo could have triggered the filter, once it's been reviewed by a Community Manager it will be returned, but won't be until Monday.

Re: Sky Go Error
Well I posted again, this time a simple post but again it's been automatically deleted. I was referencing one other user so let's make it a general post. I've contributed a lot to this topic and I'm not happy that my posts are being summarily deleted!
What I wanted to say is that if anyone is suffering this issue, and think they don't have the affected updates installed, then can they please post their Windows version here. The last patch Tuesday update on July 14th delivered level 26200.8853. The later updates increased that to 8894 (Dell update) and 8968 (preview update which will include the Dell update).
8853 is the stable release without the issue.
Both these updates will be part the next patch Tuesday on August 11th so we really need a fix before then.

Re: Sky Go Error
For the sake of completeness, I am on 8894 with KB5101767 installed on my ASUS Vivobook. I have the issue and I'm not able to uninstall KB5101767 - which I assume would take me back to 8853.

hi @RFS123
There are some automatic filters in place & you probably triggered one of these
These filters probably tend err on the side of caution
Anything caught does get reviewed and put back if the content is OK but unfortunately that won't happen until after the weekend

Re: Sky Go Error
I would go down the route of resetting the PC's and switch off updates just now. but I have 6 PC's running Windows 11, 4 of which are mini pc on the back of tv's which run multiple streaming apps.
They all have to be visually the same desktop as my FIL has dementia and can't handle any change.
To reset all of them would be a major bind.

Re: Sky Go Error
The only way to get back to 8853 is a repair install of Windows 11. I've listed the process in post 75, and I and at least one other user have done it and it works. So if you urgently want Skygo back that is the only option at present. Make sure you pause updates afterwards so it does not re-apply itself.

Re: Sky Go Error
Not too sure when SKY Go last worked for me on my desktop but I think it was only a couple of days ago which was after win 11 8894 update
Anyway just adding myself to the list suffereing with this
Hopefully SKY & MS can get to the bottom of this (although I am not holding my breath as to how long it might take)
