Sky Go - Browser Based Application

Hey SkyGo App Team,

When are you going to develop browser based application instead of windows based?

Any plans for SDK or API's to programmatic stream the subscribed channels into custom applications?

Thanks

@PareshN

This is a customer helps customer forum so you are not talking to Sky via here but what we can say is that Sky used to offer a browser based version but moved away from it when silverlight of which is was based around was discontinued by Microsoft.

Extremely unlikely. As @caesarome indicates, Sky Go in a browser died with Silverlight, or rather the end of browser plug-in architecture.  I'd think it's far more probable that Go (now a legacy product from before Comcast took over) will be replaced by a version of their US app.

Even more so ; )

Re: Sky Go - Browser Based Application

This needs a bumb in this day and age.

People and organisations are actually moving to Linux to get some peace of mind in this politically problematic era. So, Sky being European and EU based, ought to consider getting a modern browserbased player, to allow access from non-Windows PCs.

I know this isn't "the way" to contact Sky, but this is the most visible place Sky offers for people to share suggestions and opinions on their products.

You may have missed the press release.

(oh, and the one about that whole UK - EU thing ; )

With the divestment of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Sky presence within that regulatory framework is now Italy and the Republic of Ireland.

While there may be an argument for browser access, unfortunately being European isn't one of them (and realistically I suspect adoption of a Comcast app is by far the most likely outcome)
