Sky Go Awful!!🤬

Why is Sky Go whilst watching Sports so terrible in picture. It is practically blurry, buffers every 2 - 5 minutes then just cuts out. I pay over £100 for my subscription and yet again the price is going up. Im seriously thinkjng of switching somewhere else cos it is just absolute pants!!

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

I watch it on my Mac PC. Every other apps I watch (TNT Sports, Disney, Prime, Paramount, Apple TV) are absolutely picture perfect and not once have they buffed since watching on my PC.

Its just the Sky Go is so grainy, I end up watching it on my phone as it's 10x clearer!

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

The quality of the Mac app is absolutely dreadful. Worse than SD quality with contact buffering as described above. I'm guessing sky don't really care as we don't pay for it.

I've watched F1 since the start of this years season via Sky Go on the Firetablet as my Sky Q box is in Storage.

Hasn't spoilt my viewing experience by watching this way each too their own I guess

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

I use Sky go on my windows pc a lot. My pc is connected to a 42inch 4k oled tv. When you make it full screen you can actually see what can only be described as a filter. It kind of looks like camo and the result of this, makes the picture look "grainy" or "degraded". This isnt a result of poor internet. I have no buffering issues and have fttp broadband. Sky themselves are forcing this image quality.

Why they are doing this I have no idea. If I was a betting man, its maybe so its like a watermark of some kind (which doesnt make sense because of the marker they force on the screen at the bottom right).

What I will say though, is that its disgraceful. I used the btsports app multiple times and it was far better. Essentially a normal HD image.

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

If sky go is so bad, ask for it to be removed from your system, only if it's of use to you,

That's extremely unlikely.  One suspicion is that it's an unfortunate interaction with Windows graphics drivers: it may be worth looking for any misplaced HDR settings.

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

facing this exact problem as well -.- only on Sky Sports channels. It all started around May.

Device: Mac

Experience:

1. I open any Sky sports channels

2. Video is good for ~30 seconds seconds

3. At some point, it starts buffering and looping.

4. After the third / fourth time #3 happens, quality goes down (unwatchable, can't see text), and buffering stops. Quality doesn't change anymore and no more buffering.

This happens consistently. Havent been able to watch anything live on my Mac anymore.

Quality is good with the same account and wifi on my iPhone or iPad.

I tried everything. Has anyone found something?

Re: Sky Go Awful!!🤬

It is pretty obvious that this is a commercial behaviour, not a technical one.

I can sit and watch streamed TV or movies on Sky Go on the Mac without any issues. Yet live sport blurs and buffers on a regular basis, on the exact same internet connection and hardware.

There is no issue on the iPad, because they disable any connection to an external monitor.

My guess is that this is an attempt by Sky to do some rights protection, by making their sports streams barely watchable on a computer., thus preventing unscrupulous people from re-broadcasting them.

It's a shame that they have chosen to do this, because it makes the experience poor for legitimate subscribers. But they're not going to change the behaviour, so I guess we have to live with it.
