Sky Go App stuck on checking for updates

Saldly this issue of the app getting stuck on the update pages is still present in July 2024.

Happily thouigh I have a workaround and all you have to do is temporarily disconnect from your internet (so just turn off wifi in most cases) then launch the skygo app. Once the app has opened and got to the home screen then reconnect to the internet and wait a few seconds. not ideal but it works.

Of course, if Sky weren't such a bunch of {insert whatever expletive floats your boat} and simply used an HTML streaming service like the rest of the world, this wouldn't be an issue.
