The Sky Go app won't launch on my Macbook - just says "we're having problems connecting your application, please try again (001)". VPN switched off, latest update installed, still nothing. Meanwhile iPhone app is continuing to work fine. Any advice gratefully received.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThis is what another said worked for them with the 001 error:
1. Delete Sky Go app from applications folder AND trash.
2. Open Finder then Go from top menu bar
3. Copy and paste one of these libraries and carefully seach for any Sky Go files or folders and delete them (then delete trash) :
~/Library/Preferences/
~/Library/Application Support
~/Library/Caches/
~/Library/Logs/
~/Library/LaunchAgents
~/Library/Cookies
~/Library/Group Containers
4. Then repeat with the next library and so on until all are searched.
5. Delete Trash.
6. Reinstall Sky Go for Mac from sky.com
7. Launch app
8. Sign in

Ok I've spoken to Apple, Sky have not updated sky go in line with apple's latest operating system. It's a waiting game for now. If you have go on your phone you can cast it to your laptop.

I have same issue on my Mac Studio (worked fine before I migrated from my iMac). I have followed every procedure I could find but nothing works for me. Sky support is a joke - "help bot asks "what is the problem?" Me - "Sky Go App " bot gives list of possible responses - I choose "Technical Issue". Bot asks "what is the issue?" Me - "Sky Go won't connect". Bot - "That's not in the list of possible responses"...
Try Sky Go help - get "oops URL may be incorrect or obsolete" with redirect to Sky.com. Choose "Help" and get to a menu - Choose "Sky Apps" and get another menu - Choose "Sky Go app" - get "oops URL may be incorrect or obsolete" with redirect to Sky.com.
Managed to get to Support by saying I had a complaint, as opposed to a technical issue. Spent 20 minutes trying to explain my problem and that I'd tried many fixes without success. Only suggestion I got was to re-install. I asked whether there was an issue with Apple Mac Studio and/or Sequoia 15.2 - Response was "what device are you on" - me - "Apple Mac Studio"; response - "is that Studio or Sudio" Me - "Apple Mac Studio M2 Extra". Long delay then "Is that a TV set?". Me - " It'a an Apple Mac Desktop"; response I can't find that"
Anyone out there got any other fixes for this? (the App I mean - the Sky support is unfixable...)

Been trying that, but no joy (see my recent post)

As far as I can tell Sky have still not updated sky go so it' s till not working with my new mac book. I think its time to write a letter/email to someone who is high up on the sky food chain. Clearly their bot and human help is beyond useless. The fact that apple actually put the work in to find out why sky go isn't working on my mac and that i have no issue with any other app and that sky go was the issue is kind of crazy. Meanwhile sky barely respond. It's late so I will check out which bigwig I should make my complaint to tomorrow.

I don't know when this problem began, but it worked fine on my old 2019 iMac on Sequoia 15.2 up until last week. Then I migrated to the Apple Studio, and it wouldn't connect (I'm unclear but assume the connection referred to is to my Sky Q box). However I have the Sky Go app on my iPhone and iPad, and they work perfectly. My Skybox and Mac are both on my home ethernet, and the connection there is fine. Tried reinstalling on the Mac and with WiFi on but that didn't help.
I wonder why Sky distributes the Sky Go app for other platforms (iPad, iPhone, Android etc.) via the associated App stores but Mac version is only downloaable from their website?

I sent an email to the ceo, I got a text saying I should expect a call in next few days. I'll post an update once I speak to them.

I don't think Rosetta will make any difference with the Sky Go app. Sky Go file kind is Application (Universal), and Rosetta is specifically for apps with file kind Application (Intel). Finder shows them all just as file kind, but if you go to an app in Finder and in the right click menu select "Get Info" the dialogue box will show whether it's Universal or Intel.

SUCCESS!!!
I just got Sky Go installed and working on My Mac Studio M2 on Sequioa 15.2. I had tried removing the various library files and other methods suggested elsewhere with no success.
I went into my Library (in my user folder) and looked in the App Support folder for the Sky Go app folder - it contains a huge number of files, none of which will show up in a search for "skygo" in finder. I deleted the entire Sky Go folder and then reinstalled the Sky Go app. Installation completed, update completed, and got the initial setup screens and request for Username and Password. Logged in, and Sky Go is running perfectly. Also note - I didn't need to empty the bin before re-installing Sky Go, so good to know you can recover easily if you make an error deleting files. The Sky Go folder in App Support is now repopulated.
Don't know if this will work for all situations, but interested to know if it does...
