Hi everyone,
You may have seen from comments in this thread recently that some of you have resolved the issue by upgrading to the beta version of Sky Go. We’ve identified a fix which should resolve the crash issue which has been mentioned in this thread, and via the survey results which you have given us. Whilst we cannot guarantee that this will resolve this for every Chromebook, we are seeing promising results through testing this fix and early trial feedback already.
We’d like to invite you all to join our Mobile Beta Programme so you can test this fix for yourself. If you do experience any problems with the beta version of the app whether it is a crash, an error message, or something else, please let us know by completing this quick survey and we will investigate this further.
Another benefit of being part of our Beta Programme is that you can get first-look at upcoming features before general release (we have a few exciting new things planned this year). You also have the opportunity to provide feedback directly to our tech teams.

Replying to my own post. I've solved it; I misunderstood the instructions and took automatically loaded as meaning the app itself would update, when it meant that the update would be available for me to action.

Thank you @Sam-R. The issue is not settled for me, and I have completed the survey, and look forward to a further fix, please.

Chromebook up to date well as beta version of sky go but problem still persisting - cannot watch live channels - codec error code 14. Nearly two months in and can now at least watch recordings !

Ok, so I cancelled beta, reverted to basic (still crashed), made sure that it was the latest version of ChromeOS (it was), cleared the cache in the play store, still was crashing, registered for beta again and once that came through its working again. Thanks everyone for the tips, hopefully this will get more stable! I just wish it supported Chromecast too like in NZ (and like NowTV)

@Joose Glad you're up and running! Can you elaborate please on "clean the cache in the play store"? What exactly did you do there? TIA

Signed up for Beta, can't get app to register it. Playstore suggests update available but nothing happens when I click on update. Despite signing up for Beta, the app says I haven't. Still not able to play anything through the app. Sky not really doing anything helpful.

@kpc1 go to settings > Apps > Manage Android preferences > Apps & notifications > Google Play Store > Storage.
You can try the same with the Sky Go app.
I do have another issue now in that On demand content is really Pixely. It seems to struggle with the tone mapping. Watching Sky Q recordings is fine but live TV stars then comes up with "The codec reported an error. Error Code:14".
So still more fixes to be done unfortunately.

Thanks for that @Joose.
Yes, let's hope we'll see more fixes soon!
