Help please to get the remote control feature working from the android skygo app

I suspect it's an Android phone/Sky Go app incompatibility issue.

Is a SKY multiroom subscription needed for the remote function to work?

I have the SkyGo App version 25.1.1 on an Android 14, One UI version 6.1 mobile phone
I can use the SkyGo App to record programs on my SkyQ box
I cannot download programs recorded on my SkyQ box to my SkyGo App
I cannot use the remote function on the SkyGo App, "No Boxes Found"

I suspect that becuase I don't have a multioroom subscription there are no uPnP services running on my SkyQ box

I installed an App called "UPnP Tool for Developer" on my mobile phone and when I used it to search for network services
it found services running on all my other network devices but none running on my SkyQ box

I don't have a multi room subscription but the sky go remote works on iOS but not on Android.

Same.I dont have multi room but a family member with an ios has tried it without multiroom and it works,so its definitely an android issue,but @Laing1 said they were using it earlier in the thread on an android device,so im hoping someone with it working can tell us on what android device they are using it.

@mc321 I'm using it on my google pixel 7 phone on android 15 wheh i get achance I'll have a look on my Lenovo tablet and see if it works fine on that

So I asked a friend to install SkyGo on their iPhone but the remote function still did not work.

On my SkyQ box the "Settings > Status > Watch via Sky Go = your SkyQ box is not enabled to connect to Sky Go".

Selecting "Reactivate" doen't work either".

If you are trying to connect the Sky Go app to your Sky Q box then you need multiscreen on your account so do you have this ?

This is relating to using the remote control feature in the Sky Go app rather than remote viewing in the app. You don't need multiscreen to use the remote control feature - I haven't got multiscreen and it works on my iOS devices but not Android devices

Which is why I replied to you about multiscreen and while you are correct in saying you do not need it for race control you do for connecting the app to your Q box.

Thanks.The tablet i said i tried it on earlier in this thread was a lenovo tablet which didnt work also, so if yours works then i am baffled 🤣

Watching via sky go is a different thing that needs multiroom,this does not affect the sky go remote function 🙂

You could be on to something with this theory

The devices i have tried are all below android 15 and none of them work,so maybe this is the answer
